Who we are
Community Through Art is a business committed to helping artists thrive at every stage of their journey. We provide the opportunity for artists to come together to connect, create, and paint.
Whether you’re jumping into a single-day masterclass to sharpen your skills or diving into a multi-week series, you’re invited to explore, experiment, and make your mark. More than anything, it’s a place to build community and connection with others while engaging in the creative process.
Every artistic voice matters here. Join our creative community, share your unique perspective, and let your creativity multiply by connecting with artists like you.
Founder:
Sarah Orre’s founding of Community Through Art is the culmination of a lifetime devoted to making art and seeking meaningful connection.
Her passion for art naturally extends into teaching. Sarah has been an art educator in the San Lorenzo Valley for over five years, teaching adults and youth through classes, workshops, paint-and-sips, and special events. She is skilled at meeting students exactly where they are—whether they are picking up a brush for the first time or refining an advanced practice. Through teaching, Sarah has discovered a deep sense of community in the San Lorenzo Valley and created Community Through Art to help that community grow even wider.
Located in Felton, the studio serves as a central gathering place for artists from the San Lorenzo Valley, Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz, and Bonny Doon. Sarah hosts a Monday morning painting group that welcomes artists working in all mediums, offering a shared space to create, connect, and work side by side at the easel.
Sarah’s youth classes provide a much-needed creative space for teens and tweens to make art together. She believes art is multiplied when it’s shared—when ideas spark, collaboration happens, and inspiration soars.
As an artist, Sarah works in a variety of media, including soft pastels, oil, acrylic, and watercolor, with a primary focus on oils and pastels. She brings a childlike enthusiasm for exploration to her work, resulting in artwork that feels fresh, passionate, and expressive. Her work can be viewed at sarahorre.com and on Instagram at @sarah.orre.artist.
